1936 Andrews Of Bourne End Slipper Launch for sale

1936 Andrews Of Bourne End Slipper Launch boat for sale

‘Red Serpent’ celebrates her 90th year in 2026 and remains a wonderful Thames slipper launch. Built by Andrews of Bourne End in 1936, she is a sterling representation of this quintessentially British design. Her graceful slipper stern and fine entry give her the elegant profile for which Andrews launches are renowned, whilst her hull glides effortlessly through the water in a manner few modern boats can replicate. Beautifully presented throughout, she is a credit to her fastidious owners and continues to attract admiration wherever she cruises.

Significant investment has been made in her preservation over the years, including the fitting of a completely new bottom in 2018 and, more recently, a full deck revarnish in 2025. As a result, she is offered in excellent order and ready for her next custodian. Her current owners are only selling as they are moving away from the Thames; otherwise they would be delighted to continue ownership.

Whilst retaining all the charm and character of a traditional slipper launch, ‘Red Serpent’ benefits from a modern Vetus three cylinder diesel engine in place of the original Morris Vedette side valve unit. This provides reliable and economical cruising together with a good turn of speed as her hull cuts gracefully through the water.

The boat is offered with three Lloyd Loom chairs and matching cushions to the aft bench. Her distinctive red theme continues through to the pram hood and the original painted hull storage pockets. Included within the sale are a boat hook, ropes, fenders and a full overall storage cover, allowing her next owner to step aboard and enjoy her immediately.
