Sell Your Boat
Selling with Christopher James Boats
Choosing a broker can be a daunting exercise.
At Christopher James, we want you to remember that the right thing for you will always be the right thing to do. We are not here to try to change your mind on that.
As the seller, you are our client- not the buyers. Our job is to represent you and your boat.
Our job is to do all the heavy lifting. We will:
- Manage all enquiries
- Deal with all the fender kickers
- Arrange and host viewings
- Handle the negotiations
- Handle all of the paperwork, including contracts, registry searches and exchange of ownership documents
- Carry out buyer due diligence
- Handle all funds through our dedicated Client account
- Arrange the handover
How to sell
Selling a boat with Christopher James is incredibly easy. There are just a few steps.
LISTING MEETING
We’ll carry out a full free inspection of your boat and give you a realistic opinion on what we feel is a justifiable asking price. When you are comfortable, you can then instruct us to sell by signing a Listing Agreement. This is the document that formally instructs us to sell for you. This is also the document that sets out the protections and obligations to each other.
ON SALE
We market your boat on our website, as well as across the leading boat search platforms, ensuring maximum exposure to potential buyers. Every listing includes professional photography and a bespoke description designed to showcase your boat at its very best. We also promote our listings actively through social media and targeted print advertising to generate even greater interest.
OFFER
After we receive an offer, we will contact you to present it along with our confidential advice, to allow you to make an informed decision. We are honour and duty bond to present all offers to you. We are always acting under your instruction and will never refuse to present an offer to you.
We will also act as the go between during any negotiations, having a buffer can make the process much less stressful.
COMPLETION
Once we have received full payment into our client account, it will be time to sign a Bill of Sale to transfer the boats ownership to its new owners. You will hand us all keys and paperwork; we will handover the boat and transfer you the proceeds of the sale. This is where having a broker can be of great value. When you go through a broker, we ensure neither the buyer nor seller is in possession of the boat and the sale proceeds at the same time.
We sell from your mooring
It can be hugely frustrating to have a boat stuck on a sales pontoon... or worse on the sales hard standing, where you are unable to use and enjoy it.
At Christopher James, we come to you. We will arrange viewings around your use of YOUR boat. Ensuring that you continue to enjoy your boat as close to the end of a sale as possible.
