1952 Broom Fast Launch for sale

1952 Broom Fast Launch boat for sale

‘Jenny’ is a charming and increasingly rare example of a 1950s British launch, built by C. J. Broom & Sons at the company’s Brundall yard on the Norfolk Broads. Built during the early years of what would later become the renowned Broom Boats brand, she is believed to be one of just four of these early launches produced by the yard. Broom would go on to become one of Britain’s best known boat builders, particularly recognised for producing many of the cabin cruisers seen across the UK inland waterways today.

Constructed in traditional clinker fashion from mahogany on oak, ‘Jenny’ displays elegant lines and superb craftsmanship throughout. Her varnished timberwork and proportions give her the unmistakable character of a classic clinker launch, whilst the quality of construction remains evident today.

She has been extensively restored by her current owner, himself a semi-retired boat builder, with the benefit of sympathetic workmanship and a clear understanding of traditional wooden boat construction. The result is a beautifully presented and authentic classic launch which feels both characterful and usable.

Power is provided by a recently installed Yanmar inboard diesel engine, offering dependable cruising performance together with a enjoyable "Put Put" sound and feel expected of a traditional launch of this era.

‘Jenny’ is offered ready for the water with navigation lights, fenders, warps, life ring and a fitted storage cover included within the sale.

Please note that the exact year is unknown however evidence suggests she is early 1950's.
